Ski racing is an expensive sport for any athlete, but being a visually impaired athlete the cost is nearly double due to the added expenses of the guide. Many guides on the World Cup circuit are paid by their National Teams. This is not the case in the United States. With limited family income we will struggle to reach our goals as a team and make ends meet, without outside assistance.
We are in the process of securing sponsors for the 2009/2010 Paralympic season. Our estimated budget is $65,000. This includes costs for training camps, travel, going to NorAm and World Cup races, race entries, lift tickets, coaching and equipment, for me and my guide. Big thanks go out to sponsors, personal donors, and scholarship funds that helped cover about 70% of last seasons budget.
We are hoping to secure a major head gear sponsor. Contact us for more information on how your companies logo could be on our helmets for next season. This is great exposure on TV and in newspaper and magazine photos.
With today’s economy outside funding opportunities are more and more difficult to secure.
Without more support our dreams will not become reality.
